Cancellation & Premium Refund
How to cancel insurance and get a premium refund in Northern Cyprus
When you cancel a policy, you can get a refund of the unused premium for the remaining days (pro-rata). We explain the process step by step and give you a free tool to estimate your refund. KKTC Sigortam is not an insurance company; the refund is issued by the insurer that wrote the policy — we help you through the process.
What is a premium refund?
When you cancel a policy before it expires, the insurer may refund the premium for the unused (remaining) days. This is called an unearned premium refund and is usually calculated pro-rata (by day).
In Northern Cyprus, vehicle owners most often cancel when they sell, scrap or export the car, or when a duplicate policy exists. The refund amount and conditions vary by the insurer that issued the policy.

Documents you may need
Depending on the reason, the following may be requested.
Policy details
Policy number and insured details.
ID
Identity document of the policy holder.
Sale / transfer document
Sale or transfer contract if the vehicle was sold.
Scrap / export document
Scrap, de-registration or export document.
Important notes
For compulsory traffic insurance, cancellation usually requires a valid reason (sale, scrap, export, duplicate cover, etc.). Kasko is often more flexible. Some insurers apply a short-rate deduction instead of pure pro-rata.
